I know you already got what you wanted, but here is my 2 cents: I have heard alot of problems with the MSD ignition boxes. I stay away from them. I run a Summit ignition (SUM-850610) in my Jeep and really like it. It will work for 4-6-8 cylinders, has multi-spark discharge, and has an adjustable rev limiter. It even comes with a small collection of factory-style plugs to work for many vehicles. There are small benefits to a multi-spark discharge ignition, but realistically only below about 3k rpm. Hotter coils really dont do much for power by themselves. Basically, you only need just enough energy to ignite the air/fuel mixture. The quality and speed of the burn is dependent on the fuel composition, combustion chamber shape, squish clearance, and compression ratio. Higher CR and larger plug gaps require more energy to bridge the gap, but even the weakest stock ignition systems are usually good enough. You can get just as good of gains just by running shorter/better plug wires and good plugs, but even then, barely noticeable. What are you shooting for/trying to improve? | ||
