I'm considering installing some new headlights in my pickup.

This is usually an easy proposition, as you can just go buy standard bulbs, and they work. However, my pickup has sealed beam lights. Which means I'm either buying more sealed beams and hoping they are better, or buying a sealed beam conversion kit that will give me a new headlight bucket and put the standard style bulbs in it.

thoughts?

I can buy "upgraded" lights, but I"m pretty limited in my selection.

My main concern isn't price so much, as it costs basically the same either way (the entire project will be about $100 either way)

anyone converted from sealed beams and had good/bad results?

I just want to get something that will light my way on dark rainy nights

the other option is to put a front end from a 98+ s10 and use the headlights there...which both look better, and light better....but I have a feeling that's gonna be a lot more spendy!

HA! I actually do have an answer for ya!

I did a swap on a camry for a buddy. He wanted HID's in his so we went with an aftermarket bucket. HIS problem came when he bought a cheap piece of e-bay crap and they leak like crazy. Water gets in all the time (also in part to a bad re-seal after he smoked his lights). If you can find a quality piece with a good reputation, go for it, otherwise, stick to what you got and just find different / cooler sealed beams. I found that the Sylvainia 'cool blue' ones worked really well in my 82 Toyota 4x4 and often I didnt need my fog lights to light up a trail.

go to schucks buy some h6054 conversion kit from sealed to composite.
convert your halogen bulbs to HIDS, which most H6054 conversion are then 9003 bulbs.
So get a 9003 HID kit 6000k and you`ll love yourself

ya, I think this is the best option.

I'll go to shucks and pick up some of the "better" lights.

thanks!
