How to get into rally driving?

My Project: 190E
What's the best way, how to get into, rally driving here in Washington? Are there spots to practice that are designed for the rally beginner?

My Project: Pulled the sr20det for the second time and winter modding time
Go find a rural dirt road and mash the pedal. Now that you're rallying, preferably you are in a awd vehicle but rwd will work.

I know a kid from chehalis that does this. There is actually some sort of Race around here on the 2nd I believe.

too bad the eclipse is broken right now, I'd take you out on a gravel road and make you soil yourself :-) Stupid acceleration, but if you lift off the gas the back end comes around and you find yourself doing 70 sideways down a straight road.

There is a place called Pickles butte on Perch rd next to the city dump just south of Lake Lowell near Caldwell Idaho. There is a large area for motor cycles, ATV's, and an amazing hill climb area for the serious 4 wheeler that as far as I know no one has made it all the way up. On the other side of the hill along Nash lane is a shooting range. Next to it there is a road called Missouri ave that is nothing more than a dirt road that intersects several other dirt roads at the top making a complex arrow shape. It appears to be a great place that is safe and potentially challenging. It is all part of Pickles and is perfect for practicing off road rally. Its where I will be practicing with my 86 CRX as soon as I finish the car. I hope to see some of you there this summer.

i know that carter subaru in shoreline has there own rally race team. I'm sure you can probably hook up with the girl that drives the company rally car and see how u can get into it.

I'm guessing the only way you'd be able to get really into it is just buy a POS, mod it a little, and start rallying and getting ur juices flowing and just get out there and do it.

I think Rally racing would be a total kick in the ass...

Too bad it hasn't caught on here in the states.

I recommend going to rally-America.com. But next year go to the Olympus rally site and sign up to be a volunteer, this is what I did and now I have some ins.

As for rules and regs rally America is for the most part a seperate org from the scca and those are the rules you want to look at. Also check out Subaru rally team site for some pointers.
