Regarding the old and the new Civics out there, is the extra money spent for the SI model worth it?

yes and no. You can get an EX with VTEC and some sport trim, no LSD, for alot less, and it won't hit your insurance premiums like the SI will. BUUUUUUTTTTTT, it's still not an SI, so lots of stuff won't be up to par (power output, brakes, suspension, LSD, etc.).

This kind of sh*t is exactly why I stopped reading car boards (and no I DONT drive a honda...but my lawnmower is honda... so back off! :D ). Looks like nothing's changed. meh.
Why is it with bikes everybody's your best friend but with cars it's "hate this, POS that"?

Because every other Honda you see has the required fart cannon, Wing you could land a 747 on, primered body kit, and either some ugly ass aftermarket rim or just plain steelys. There are some nice Hondas out there, keyword some, a majority of the people with Hondas have no clue where to really start with them. One of the only Hondas I have liked was my buddys 96-97 Civic. No body kit, coilovers, decent rims, tinted windows, and a JDM GSR? swap(some stuff done to it), run by a standalone ECU, header back exhaust, fart cannon(of course). Thing was freaking ballistic (for a honda), had the fart cannon sound but it wasnt the annoying raspy stock Honda sound you could tell it wasnt to be f'ed with when he got on the gas.

The only other ones I've really liked was one way back in the day over in Tacoma my buddys sisters B/F had a bad ass 95-96 Civic, pretty much the same treatment but wayyy wayy more engine work, plus the color changing paint(when it first came out), and all of the stock ones I have driven, they drive nice, not really inspiring but they have good quality.

As far as your question why this with bikes but why that with cars, bikes as a whole are their own niche, cars you get die hard Honda/Ford/Chevy/Mopar/whatever enthusiasts, you get them with bikes but not to the extremes seen in car scenes. (from what I've noticed)

So what? Bad taste is bad taste. I've seen plenty of shitty fords and nissans. To be honest, most modded cars i've seen of ANY brand are tasteless piles of shit. The hondas you hate suck because the idiot that bought it (and screwed it up) is the reason the car sucks. You're putting a brand on your hate and not realizing it's the tasteless twat that bought the car that's the problem, not the car. Why can people not grasp this?

This doesn't answer my question because bikes can have the same division between brands as cars can. You just pointed out the specific divisions between cars, but not the reason for the level of hatred btween the divisions. Customizing cars are as much of a niche as bikes.

There's always haters in every group, but it's not even close when it comes to bikes. I've never seen a visceral division between bike brands that even comes close to matching the general hatred between cars.

I know its not the cars fault for being bought by some dumb person. I like hondas, I've driven stock Hondas and they are nice cars. I realize there are some Hondas/Nissans/whatever out there that are done right. I don't hate because of a brand, I'm an equal opportunity hater.

Branding is just one more way for people to give eachother shit and be competitive.
btw Subaru Sux

Thankyou!!! Couldnt have said it any better!!
One thing I hate is people saying fart cannon if you have exhaust, I personally have never just bought a stupid APC muffler and welded on any of my cars, I usually spend a good 4-800 on exhaust setup depending on car w/ a good catback setup.

Remember there are alot more Hondas on the road that have a strong aftermarket following. Therefore you are more inclined to see more shitty modified Hondas than any other make.

On a different note, I just went and saw "Quantum of Solace" and there was a trailer for a new "Fast and the Furious" movie with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Can someone smell desperation and career revival?

You're lucky! I went to go see it and I had the worst trailer selection. They had the new Star Trek movie trailer out too before Quantum of Solace, but I didnt get that one either. Booooo.

I have no problem admitting I like the series. Yes, alittle cheesy at times.

But.... doesn't look like a bad movie
